Driving Blind

Hooniverse has a fascinating article about Timo Makinen, a Mini rally driver of the 1960's known for driving blind for 14 miles in a rally with his car’s bonnet open and up.  He was still able to post the third fastest time on the stage and ultimately won the rally.

Here is what may be the only footage of the event. The film is a tribute to the 1000 Lakes Rally/Rally Finland and Makinen's feat appears at the 1:32 mark.
