Highway 1 Coastal Run to Big Sur - March 27, 2021
Your Hosts For This Run:
Dolores and Rick Sanchez
Enjoy a beautiful casual scenic run through the South Bay farmlands from Morgan Hill through Watsonville to the coast. It is an amazing drive down Highway 1 past Moss Landing, Sand City, Monterey, Carmel and on down to Big Sur. Beautiful scenery we all love and enjoy.
If the weather gods are good to us it will be a gorgeous run. Bring your cameras to capture the wildlife and scenery along the coast.
Meet Up Location #1

Arrival Time from Meet Up 1 - 9:45am with immediate departure
We will then continue west on Highway 129 for 14 miles and through the city of Watsonville. We will then merge onto the ramp for Highway 1 south to Monterey. Upon arriving at the Moss Landing city limits we will park in the rear parking lot of:
Power Plant Coffee

We will be holding a drawing for a giveaway at this stop.
We will then merge back onto Highway 1 and continue south through the cities of Marina, Seaside, Monterey and Carmel for 35 miles to the scenic Bixby Creek Bridge. Arrive at Hurricane Point View (1 mile south of the bridge). We will park and take photos of the bridge at the stop. All depending on the availability of parking spots.
Note: On the east side of Highway 1 at the Bixby Creek Bridge is Old Coast Road. A great spot to take pictures of the bridge. It is suggested to stop there on the way back home from River Inn (as mentioned lots of cars on the weekends).
Caution: This is a very dusty and bumpy road with potholes. You will have to make a 3 point turn to get. back onto Highway 1.
We will then continue south on Highway 1 for 10 miles and arrive at the Big Sur River Inn. Parking on both sides of the highway. Restrooms available and food and grocery is desired.
